In 1996, I made the decision to study at Keele. I was acutely conscious that it wasn't a mainstream choice focusing on dual rather than single subject degrees. But it reflected a belief that has served me well; a broader knowledge of the world makes my specialist knowledge more useful. The choice of James Timpson as Chancellor of Keele in 2022 was another unconventional but inspired choice. I recall an interview he gave to the BBC where he reminded us success in business is about supporting people to be a success, rather than managing them. Listen to the interview here (https://lnkd.in/drfj83sB) or check out James' main points below. You won't go far wrong applying these. I try to live up to this every day at Insider Pro Ltd and help my team to do the same with each of our customers;1. To get the best out of people, you need to show kindness to them2. You have to understand the feelings & emotions of people to achieve financial results3. To be a great boss, you need to know your people4. A business is a community; support colleagues in everything5. If they’re not happy in the job, help them to be happy somewhere else6. It’s not all about growth and money; it’s about value, culture and giving back

It's being awhile since I updated my LinkedIn. As I moved on to my next chapter I want to share my past accomplishments at Baylor. I was lucky to be on the consulting team with Jacob Clinkenbeard, Michael Ho, and Caroline Kemp in Fall 2023 to work with Hannah to resolve supply chain and sales objectives. (https://lnkd.in/gPAZSDvh) We were placed 4th among 12 teams.Hannah and the team constructed a road map and 3 MECE frameworks to understand different impacts from each decisions made. With the plan in hand, Hannah can make strategical decisions that builds toward her desired end-goal.We customized models to track past sales trends and identified client types to forecast seasonal demands so that Hannah can to eliminate least selling products to streamline the productivity on stock outs. Furthermore, the model also provides a margin calculator to set desired margin.I appreciate the Baylor Consulting class providing the opportunity to interact with Business owners directly. It was rewarding to help our clients to build tools that they can use to overcome challenges.#Baylor #consulting #casing #transformation #teamwork #inventoryplanning #forecastingsales #smallbiz

3 Powerful Lessons from a Fascinating Event Recently, I had the pleasure of attending an event packed with insightful takeaways. While there were many, here are three that really struck me: 1. Customer Love Drives Success, Not Shareholder Greed: Forget obsessing over shareholder value. Focus on building a product customers adore. When you achieve that, shareholder value naturally follows. Case in point: PACCAR, with 80 consecutive years of net profit! Prioritizing customer love is the recipe for sustained success. 2. Truck Stops, Treasures, and Trucker Talk: Preston Feight, CEO of a prominent company, has a unique habit. During family trips, he stops at truck stops to chat with drivers. Those conversations? Pure gold! He gathers invaluable feedback that fuels his engineering team. Talk about firsthand insights! 3. The Powerful Echo of Mentorship: Great leaders listen to their mentors, and those mentors significantly impact the next generation. Teachers, parents, and grandparents: your influence shapes the leaders of tomorrow. Remember, the impact of good mentorship echoes far and wide. A huge thank you to Albers School of Business and Economics at Seattle University for hosting such a thought-provoking event!

Recognizing successes is essential in business. This month, we have major news to share that deserves celebration: Philip Morris International is making a landmark $600 million investment in Aurora, Colorado, with a new manufacturing facility that is expected to transform our local economy. This facility will create 500 jobs with an average annual salary of around $90,000 and generate a staggering $550 million in annual economic impact.Read 76 Group Senior Advisor Blain Rethmeier’s latest blog on how acknowledging and learning from these moments of triumph propel us forward: https://lnkd.in/gtXF9x3B#BusinessGrowth #SuccessStories #EconomicDevelopment

In my career, I've learned that celebrating collective achievements isn't just a nice gesture—it's essential for fostering team spirit and gratitude. This lesson crystalized for me after the successful sale of Kinko’s to FedEx, which was a monumental team effort. To mark the occasion, I wanted to do something unique that would long remind everyone involved of our shared triumph. So, I treated all the partners involved with Kinko’s and every Kinko’s team member who reported directly to me to custom-made boots from Leddy’s Western Store in Fort Worth. Each team member chose the skin for their boots and personalized every detail down to their measurements. It took about a year for the boots to be crafted and shipped, but they were worth the wait. Inside each boot, we had the FedEx logo on one and the Kinko’s logo on the other—a nod to the journey and the partnership that led to our success. You wouldn’t believe how quickly those CD&R partners got on a plane to Dallas to pick out their boots! In the world of business, “deal toys” symbolize the closure of significant transactions, but I wager few could rival the meaning and personal touch of those boots. To this day, my pair from that transaction remains my favorite (and being from Texas, I’ve got a lot of boots!).This experience reinforced a crucial leadership principle: share success tangibly and memorably. It turns a personal victory into a collective celebration, strengthening bonds and building a culture where every member feels valued and motivated to strive for the next win.The way you celebrate achievements can powerfully enhance your team's cohesion and drive toward future success.#Leadership #Mentorship #WorkplaceCulture #Success #CEO

💭 “While I do, as a chief of staff, serve our entire team, my primary obligation and responsibility is to partner with and support my principal (our CEO). To do this successfully, the two of us knew we would need a plan to build each other’s trust. So, we started with these five commitments to help build that foundation.”Ben Conard, chief of staff to the CEO at Fair Trade USA, describes how he and his principal developed a plan to build each other’s trust. 🔗 Read the full article in our latest journal edition here: https://lnkd.in/gvpeyNK7💡 What are the most effective ways you’ve tested towards building trust?
