Is there a craigslist in Amsterdam?
Planning on being in Amsterdam in the spring. We have a storage container that needs to be emptied out and sold. Are there services that might be able to help us? can we use something like craigslist .

Be aware that people will be vigilant when met with an English speaker. So expect some questions and suspicions. Nothing against you but fraud through marktplaats has been committed by English speaking parties in the past.

“Nothing against you but fraud through marktplaats has been committed by English speaking parties in the past.”
And in the present. I work for a bank and almost everyday customers report to us they have been duped on Marktplaats, both by English and Dutch speakers. Another thing you will be having going against you if you use Marktplaats, is that it will be clear from your profile that you have just joined Marktplaats as a new member. That combined with the fact that you speak English will ring warning bells. Perhaps you can make it clear from your posts on Marktplaats that you just moved to Amsterdam. Also you should make clear that instead of mailing out the stuff you sold, you are offering people to pick up the items at your house. This is a pretty common thing to do when buying things on Marktplaats and it greatly reduces the chances of being scammed.
I once dealt with someone on Marktplaats that I didn’t really trust. When I asked if I could pick up the item at his home since his profile indicated he lived close to me, all of a sudden he claimed to have been moved to one of the Wadden islands located at the very North of the Netherlands that can only be reached by taking a ferry. When I told him I would be there next weekend for a short holiday, he never got back to me again! :-)

How long are you here for? Selling a unit of stuff might be difficult in a week or so. You can also maybe contact tweedehand winkels (2nd hand shops) to see if they will sell stuff on consignment for you.
If you have any decent stuff then give us first dibs on it ;-))

We currently live in the San Francisco area. My wife is Dutch and has a storage container in Amsterdam there for 5 years that we need to empty. She is an Architect-Artist, so there are some very nice things we want to sell..
such as art books, furniture, carpets, object de art, and etc.
We are coming to Amsterdam around the 24th of April for a week and will be looking to sell almost everything right away. For more information, just reply through this link.
Thanks,
Gary

When I saw your mention of the date I remembered reading about a citywide street market on King's Day where apparently 'everyone' is allowed to sell their wares without permit etc! Could be worth looking into as I believe it is on 27 April.

Indeed there are streetmarkets on Kingsday where people sell their stuff. However that stuff usually consists of old toys, books and other knick-knacks, not large pieces of furniture.
Also, from the description that the OP gave, I gather they have some nice and maybe unique objects to sell. Kingsday is not the place to sell those.

Before "the internet", Koninginnedag was THE day to sell anything from furniture to outboard engines to bikes and art on the street. Some people would put almost the entire content of their house outside to see if they could sell stuff off. These days you'll hardly find anything of value anymore, the internet killed that. Still good for toys and kids things etc. but most of it's junk.
